CAO issues statement on Port Elgin Harbour issue |

There has recently been a flurry of Letters to the Editor regarding the non-renewal of the Harbour Master's contract at the Port Elgin Harbour Saugeen Shores. All of the letters indicate extremely strong support in retaining the current Harbour Master, Peter Roedger, who has been in the position for approximately eight years. Although the Town of Saugeen Shores representatives have declined to give details as it is " .... a personnel matter and, therefore, confidential", CAO Larry Allison did comment today. "We are re-structuring how we will be delivering staffing services," said Allison. "We appreciate the fact people are concerned and we are taking those concerns into consideration and objectively reviewing the feedback we are receiving." Allison pointed out that "... customer service is important at the harbour and we intend to maintain or enhance the level of service that the boating community has been getting."
