According to Joyce Scammell, Saugeen Shores organizer for the annual Christmas Shoebox donation fundraiser, this year has exceeded all expectations.

Each year, the annual project relies on donations for children in underdeveloped countries.  Shoeboxes are filled with not only the joys of childhood but also with necessities such as toothbrushes and soap.

"Our final Canadian tally for 2011 was 672,274 shoeboxes," said Scammell.  "that is an increase of 31,560 shoeboxes or five per cent (5%) more than 2010 and it is incredible!"
