To the Editor|:

This is a  terrible idea (DGR). Burying nuclear waste in a deep geological repository beside a great lake is unthinkable.

Why would Port Elgin ever want to become an international destination for what is, essentially,  a garbage dump for nuclear waste?   Aren’t the industrial wind turbines problem enough?

The stories from workers at the Bruce about the lack of safety measures at the plant involving large equipment and the transportation of material is already concerning enough.  If the goal is to keep younger people, this isn’t the way.

Also (re the CAW wind turbine), I would recommend that meetings  be held at a  time of year when ALL Port Elgin ratepayers/residents can attend, including those whose homes aren’t insulated for cold, and here only in the warmer months.

The Deputy Mayor is absolutely right. There is no question this industrial machine in our midst  poses a danger and has the potential to harm residents.

My family members and I, as well as my extended family in Port Elgin,  endorse this bylaw 150 per cent!!!!!

Anne McNeilly,

Port Elgin
