David Peat, General Manager of D.J. Peat Roofing and Sheet Metal Ltd.,
presented a $25,000 cheque to regional recreation centre campaign
co-chair Tom Rice yesterday. Serving the communities of Grey, Bruce and
Simcoe since 1972, the company is huge supporter of improving the health
and wellness of our region.
“I feel this project is a great asset for our area. The new complex will give our young athletes a state-of-the-art facility to train in, and will meet the accessibility needs of the community,” commented Peat. “The opportunities to host events and tournaments will benefit everyone.” Peat continued, stating “we at D.J. Peat Roofing and Sheet Metal Ltd., feel this project is a positive step for our area and are excited to support the fundraising effort”. Thanking them for their generosity, Rice said, “This is a wonderful donation from D.J. Peat and we truly appreciate the support. This donation brings us one step closer to providing many more recreational opportunities for everyone in the community.” Having achieved over 80% of the community fundraising goal, the fundraising committee is thankful for the overwhelming community support received from over 700 donors to date. With just under $1 million to go, Rice commented, “This is a once in a lifetime opportunity to help build a facility. We hope this gift will inspire others in the community to support the rec centre.” The new home of the Owen Sound Family YMCA and a double ice pad arena, the Regional Recreation Centre triples the size of the current aquatic facilities and doubles available arena and workout space. The facility will feature an elegant donor wall composed of Algonquin and Strata limestones donated by Owen Sound Ledgerock. All donations of $5,000 or more will be permanently recognized on the wall. To read more about the new facility Click Here |
