Peninsula Adventure Sports Association (PASA) is awarding grants to the Bruce Peninsula Sportsmen's Association Archery Club and Peninsula Shores Elementary’s Cross Country Ski Team. Any ventures that promote outdoor sport or the creation of outdoor sport infrastructure can apply for the grant. The venture can be sport infrastructure or a sport event, but must highlight or showcase the unique features of the Bruce Peninsula.
The funding available is part of a commitment made to outdoor sport on the Bruce Peninsula by PASA when it organized the popular Bruce Peninsula Multisport Race this past summer.
PASA is very pleased to support these local efforts to get people outside and enjoying the Bruce Peninsula. The ability of these groups to provide an accessible outdoor sports experience, such as skiing and archery, can have tremendous long-term benefits for our area,” says PASA president Jack Van Dorp.
BPSA’s Karen Van Nest adds that the funding will be directed towards enhancing equipment for the Junior Program at the Archery Club. "We are very grateful for the support of the PASA grant. A large part of our youth is under 12 and can’t pull the weight of an adult bow. As a competitive National Team archer, I know the importance of shooting the right size of bow. Our program gets kids outdoors learning new skills, whether for recreation or competition. They are out having fun getting fresh air and not in front of a TV or computer games.”
PASA has also just announced a second intake for grants. The new deadline will be March 31, 2012. PASA's support area is within or benefitting Bruce and Grey Counties north of Highway 21, or any part of the Sauble River, and must also be non-motorized.
