Two young local skaters are the new Novice Ice Dance Champions of Canada!

Danny Seymour of Port Elgin and  Lauren Collins of Elmvale captured the judges with their free dance this morning (Tues.,Jan.17).

One of their newest routines have a 'Circ du Soleil' flair that as Danny Seymour says is base don "...make 'em laugh."

"We are absolutely thrilled," says mom, Brenda Seymour.  The achievement has been a family affair with time and travel through many years of training.

There had been some concern recently with Seymour's suffering from shin splints, but with therapy and treatment, he skated through to win the Novice gold.

The duo has been training away from home for the past three years at the Mariposa Club in Barrie, Ontario but Seymour originally began his skating career with Kincardine's Lorilee Nelson.
