Local elementary school volleyball teams in Kincardine, Ripley, Lucknow and Teeswater, faced off at the Southwest Regional tournament held Friday at the new gymnasium in Kincardine. In the finals, the Ripley girls downed Lucknow, 25-14 and 25-15, to take the championship. Lucknow took home the runner-up banner. The Ripley team is in Wiarton Tuesday, Jan. 24, for the Bluewater finals. Meanwhile, Huron Heights of Kincardine defeated Ripley in two very close games, with long rallies, 25-23 and 25-18, to take the championship banner, with Ripley as runner-up. This was the first time Huron Heights beat Ripley in almost 20 years. Huron Heights is in Sauble Beach Tuesday, Jan. 24, for the Bluewater finals.
