(HURON COUNTY, ON) – Between Jan. 5-12, the Huron OPP investigated 27 crashes, with injuries reported at three. With more snow in the forecast, the Huron OPP is asking drivers and vehicle owners to start thinking about safe winter driving to prevent an increase in collisions:
Electronic traction control, all-wheel-drive and four snow tires will enhance your safety in winter driving. But, the best way to avoid a collision is to slow down. Always adjust your driving to the changing road and weather conditions; an ordinary driver reacts to road situations while a good driver anticipates and avoids a crisis on the roads. Huron OPP detachment commander inspector Chris Martin wants motorists to make a concerted effort to improve roadway safety this winter. “The change in seasons is inevitable, but the increase in vehicle crashes during winter months definitely isn’t," he says. "Slow down, stay alert, stay in control and arrive safely at your destination."
