Dear Editor:

Doors Open Ontario was launched in 2002, and since then hundreds of communities have literally opened the doors to thousands of sites, showing off the courthouses, residences, commercial buildings, churches, gardens and heritage sites that make our towns and cities unique.

This year, Doors Open Kincardine will be held
May 26-27.

We’re aiming for 20 sites and in order to pull it off, we’ll need a minimum of four volunteers for each site. That’s 80 volunteers. Seems daunting, but I am confident that Kincardine is up to the task. It just can’t be overstated that this area thrives because of those who selflessly give of their time and talents to make events like this happen.

Our drive right now is to secure sufficient numbers of volunteers to ensure success for this event. It will take only four hours of your time that weekend and you’ll still have your evening free! I know most people are willing to help as evidenced by the outpouring of sentiment last fall when the event was cancelled. They just need to be asked.

Well I am asking.

If you can spare four hours on the last weekend of May, all you need do is send a quick E-mail to doorsopen@kincardine.net to let us know. If you don’t have E-mail, call Kelly McDonald at 519-396-2731 and she will add you to our list.

Let’s make it happen.
