The Bob Campbell curling trophy is back in Kincardine.

The annual Kincardine-versus-Ripley mixed bonspiel was held Saturday at the Kincardine Curling Club, with six teams from each club participating.

The games were a little closer in total score this year compared to last year when Ripley whupped the Kincardine curlers. Four games out of 18 were tied and when all was said and done, Kincardine came out on top with a score of 193 ¾ to 142 ½.

The beautiful trophy, sponsored by Bob Campbell, will grace the Kincardine club until this time next year when the bonspiel will be held in Ripley,

Winner of the 9 a.m. draw was the home team of Barb and Ray Kester with Dan and Carolyn Norman. Second and third place went to Ripley teams skipped by Murray Yungblut and Peter McNay.

Other teams in the early draw were skipped by Bob Houston, Robert Ross and Mike Kobayashi.

The first-place winner in the late draw was also a Kincardine team - Gord Cale, Gene and Brenda Gillespie and Ryan Berg. Ken Phillips of Ripley took second, and third place went to Laura Haight’s Kincardine team.

Other skips were Jim Prenger, Cathy Alcombrack and James MacDonald.

The annual Ripley-versus-Kincardine bonspiel began in 1981. It has been a friendly rivalry over the years. In the most recent past, Kincardine won the trophy in 2005, followed by Ripley from 2006-08, then Kincardine from 2009-2010, and Ripley last year.

The sponsorship of Bob Campbell and C&M Construction was very much appreciated and, as always, a great time was had by all.
