DOMESTIC ASSAULTS INVESTIGATED
(BRUCE PENINSULA, ON.) – Bruce Peninsula OPP has laid charges in three Domestic Disputes reported over the weekend. A 53-year-old Saugeen First Nation resident was charged Friday the 27th with Assault after an altercation with a 48-year-old female.
Late Saturday evening, police were called to a residence near Chesley Lake, Town of South Bruce Peninsula. A 24-year-old man was arrested at the residence and has been charged with Assault and Utter Threats in relation to an 18-year-old female.
Finally, a 34-year-old South Bruce Peninsula man was arrested and charged with Assault and Mischief shortly after midnight Sunday, this in relation to a 29-year-old female.
None of the women were seriously injured and all three men were held for Bail Hearings January 30th. Alcohol had been consumed at all three locations prior to the assaults occurring.
COLLISIONS
(BRUCE PENINSULA, ON.) – Winter weather was a major factor this past weekend in the 11 collisions reported to police. Eight vehicles went into the ditch with varying amounts of damage. One car struck a deer on Hwy. 21 east of Southampton and two vehicles were involved in a parking lot collision.
In the most serious collision on Bruce Road 13 early Saturday morning, a 70-year-old Georgian Bluffs man had to climb out of the rear window of his vehicle as the cab of his Mazda pick-up was filling with water. The man was not injured in the ordeal.
Although Bruce County winters come every year without fail, it seems that the message of driving at speeds appropriate for road and weather conditions is often forgotten. Please slow down. The extra time on the road getting to your destination will be far shorter and less expensive then getting your vehicle pulled from the ditch.
YOUTHS CHARGED WITH FIGHTING
(WIARTON, ON.) – Two Wiarton male youths were charged with Causing a Disturbance Sunday afternoon when they were found fighting on Frank Street in the town. The pair, one 15 and the other 16, were identified and later released with a Youth Court date in Owen Sound of March 13th. At the time of the incident, the 15-year-old was also found in possession of a controlled substance. He will have to answer to the additional drug charge when he makes his court appearance.
