Rebecca Binnendyk, a graduate from Saugeen District Secondary School is following her dream.

Showing an interest in the performing arts at a very young age, Binnendyk began studying and performing music in Port Elgin at the age of nine.  She then learned how to play the piano and guitar, before majoring in voice at Wilfred Laurier University.

Graduating with a degree in Musical Therapy and Teaching, Binnendyk was recently cast in a new musical - Kandahar:  A Modern Soldier's Story.  The musical, an original work by songwriter-musician Robin Habermehl, tells the story of three young military men in a rock/pop style along the lines of Jesus Christ Superstar.

The play will be held Feb. 23, 24 & 25 at the Chrysalis Theatre in Kitchener and all proceeds will go to help young Canadian soldiers who have returned from Afghanistan.
