Women’s House Serving Bruce and Grey will be hosting
their annual International Woman’s Day celebration on March 8th, 2012 at
the Lakeshore Recreation Centre in Port Elgin.
"We are pleased to announce that Suhana Meharchand from CBC News Today from CBC Newsworld will be our keynote speaker for our event," states Community and Fund Development Coordinator Shannon Drainville, "Bringing a wealth of journalistic experience, Meharchand has won two Bronze medals at the Columbus International Film and Video Festival, and a Bronze medal at the International Film and TV Festival of New York. We look forward to hearing her keynote presentation and are thrilled to have her celebrate this monumental occasion with us." Women’s House celebrates International Women’s Day every year to recognize the economic, political and social achievements of women past, present and future. This event is also one of the major fundraisers for Women’s House. The purchase of a ticket is not only going to provide you with an evening filled with great food and entertainment, but also the chance to support a worthy cause in our community. "With the purchase of a ticket, attendees will receive a great meal, attend the Woman of Distinction ceremony as well as hear the keynote presentation by Ms. Meharchand", states Drainville, "Women’s House has had some difficulty meeting fundraising targets this fiscal year and would appreciate your support with this major fundraiser." Tickets for this event are $45 each and available at Sisters on Huron in Southampton, United Way in Owen Sound, Wardrop’s Pharmasave in Port Elgin, Gordon’s Pharmasave in Kincardine or by calling Shannon at Women’s House at (519)396-9814 ext.225.
