Huron-Bruce MPP Lisa Thompson, PC deputy energy critic, welcomed her colleague, PC energy critic Vic Fedeli (MPP for Nipissing) for a two-day tour of Huron-Bruce's energy resources.

Monday (Jan. 30), they checked out a Goderich-area wind farm and solar business. Tuesday (Jan. 31), they were touring Bruce Power and visiting a Port Elgin Geo-Thermal business.

It is a pleasure to have my colleague come to Huron-Bruce to learn more about the energy produced here,” said Thompson. “I take my role of deputy energy critic very seriously, and it was important to me to have my colleague tour this riding.”

Both Thompson and Fedeli have been active in the Ontario Legislature, holding the Liberal government to account in the energy file. Before the House rose in December, Thompson questioned the energy minister regarding the Port Elgin CAW wind turbine, and tabled a motion calling for a moratorium on wind energy projects until a third-party health and environmental study could be completed.

Fedeli has been questioning the provincial government about the Mississauga Power Plant, which the Liberals cancelled due to public pressure mid-election, and about the province sending surplus power to other jurisdictions for much less than it costs to produce—on the backs of the Ontario taxpayer.

Vic and I have been active in the Ontario Legislature, and we plan to continue to hold the Liberal government to account for its hastily-made energy decisions,” said Thompson. “Doing tours like this is important to achieve an understanding of how we can better manage our power sources in Ontario.”

She said she will be hosting more of her PC colleagues in the riding, as they discuss the issues important to Huron-Bruce and rural Ontario.
