The Ripley Wolves are heating up at just the right time as they head into the playoffs. A couple of wins this past weekend over the Mapleton-Minto 81s and the lowly Walkerton Capitals secured the Wolves a sixth place finish in the North Division. The Wolves headed over to Walkerton Friday night for a match against the Capitals, a team they have owned this year, outscoring them 18-5 in the previous two meetings. This game would not end any better for the home team as Ripley skated away with an 8-4 win. Leading the way for the Wolves was Jeremy McQuillin with a hat-trick while singles went to Kyle Heffernan, Kyle Wreford, Nick Locking, Travis VanGaver and Nathen Gavey. Saturday night, the team braved the snowy conditions, travelling to Palmerston for a game against the 81s. Nothing was on the line as each team’s placement in the standings had already been set. Still, it was an entertaining game with Ripley grabbing the two points with a 5-4 win. Goals scorers for the Wolves were Mark Stanley, Jeremy McQuillin, Brock Lowry, Alex MacLeod and Kyle Heffernan.

Congratulations
to Wolves player Brock Lowry and his girlfriend, Chrissy MacMasters, on
the birth of their son Easton, on Jan. 25. Word is Brock has already
tried a pair of skates on the baby and has measured him to get a tiny
Wolves
jersey made. Due to the weather on Saturday night, Shelburne had to cancel a game with Lucknow and a win or a loss by the Muskies can change the standings and the Wolves' first-round opponent. The Lucknow-Shelburne game has been rescheduled for Tuesday night. I will let you know the results as soon as I get them.
