The Annual Meeting of the Ripley Agricultural Society was held last week. The new directors were installed - Judy Lowry and Cheryl Bridge. Paul Murray was returned to office as president, and Marilyn Reid as president of the homecraft division - both for their second year.

 Wednesday, Jan. 18, the Ripley and District Horticultural Society held its annual meeting.  President Gail Van der Hoek is returning for her second year. The speaker was Lynne Taylor from Bruce Botanical Food Gardens. She spoke on the proposed project in Ripley across from the soccer fields. 

We are pleased to announce that Mandy (Rhody) and Don Zuk of Walkerton are now home from London with their twin sons, Zarion and Xavier. Congratulations to Mandy and Don and to her parents ,Janet and Wayne Rhody, and the twins' great-grandparents, Merle and Gerald Rhody of Kinlough. 

Marilyn and Don Reid visited in Wingham with Pat and Gordon Needham before they returned to London to live. Marilyn and Don also visited with Lois and Ross Durnin, and June and Bob Gilchrist.

Marilyn and Don have also enjoyed watching their grandson, Tanner Reid, playing hockey in Goderich this month. Tanner plays with the Huron Perth AAA hockey team.

Chris, Tyson and Cooper Vande Sype of Guelph visited with her parents, Fran and Jim Farrell, this past week. 

Holly, Ian and Lochlin MacDonald moved to the Calgary area recently. Barb and John Gamble visited this week with Shirley and Doug MacDonald.

Despite the nasty weather Saturday, the family of June and Earl Elliott gathered at their home in Wingham to celebrate their 65th Wedding Anniversary. Joining in the celebration were: Nancy and Paul Greenwood of Goderich and their children and grandchildren; Stephen and Janice Elliott of Blind River; Joyce and John Farrell and their daughters, husbands and families; and Shari and Ian Elliott and children of Barrie. 

 

Saturday, folks from the area appreciated the Farm Safety Workshop sponsored by Farm Credit. A great day of learning.

Sunday evening Mary Black, Matt Black, Judy and Wayne Murray and Betty Scott gathered at Mary Anne Kukoly's home for a meal.

Sure hope the weather is good for the Institute meeting this Wednesday, Feb. 1, at the home of Mary Anne Kukoly.
