Saturday, Feb. 4, Kincardine Branch will be hosting the Zone C-1 Euchre play-offs in our Legion Hall. There are 13 Legion branches in our zone located from as far east as Gorrie, south to Mitchell and Exeter and up here, to Kincardine. Each branch is allowed to enter up to four teams and each team is composed of four players.

Although the final team total is not yet known, we expect to host at least 100 players that day. Each team will play nine games with the top 10 teams moving on to the District–C level competition which will be played at some future date. 

This event renews old rivalries plus provides an opportunity to socialize with old and new friends. Of course, our Branch volunteers will be busy catering for the midday lunch and attending to all the other necessary support requirements. Hopefully, this winter’s co-operative weather will continue for those out-of-town travellers. Kincardine Branch has three teams entered.

Also, Saturday, Feb. 4, one member of our executive will be going to Hanover to assist the Air Cadet organization in interviewing and evaluating Air Cadets from various squadrons throughout the area who have applied for summer program courses. This should be very informative and also an enlightenment on how this excellent program for our youth functions. Of course our Branch sponsors the local Typhoon Air Cadet Squadron

The next day, Sunday, Feb. 5, we will be hosting an NFL “Super Bowl Party” in our Club Room with our new 54-inch TV screen. The game is between the New England “Patriots” and the New York “Giants” and should be a classic! 

There is no charge and the doors will open at 4 p.m. Besides the usual refreshments, there will be “tailgate” food available consisting of wings, chili and pizza. We welcome everyone whether you are a member or not!

Come out, bring your friends, enjoy a great party and cheer for your favourite team in our newly-renovated Club Room. An extra feature this year will be the opportunity for a local free ride home, paid for by the Legion. Plan to attend this event!
