The Kincardine Canadian Tire Kinucks Atom girls defeated the Brussels Bulls Sunday at the Davidson Centre.

The first period saw a lot of action in the opponent's end with great shots by Alyssa Andrews, Laura Fohkens and Claire Hunsburger.

Defensive players Jessica Gouthro, Katie Voskamp and Claire Hunsburger did a fantastic job sending the puck back into the offensive zone time after time. Despite their attempts, the Brussels team scored the first goal of the game on a breakaway.

The Kincardine girls evened up the scoring in the second period with a goal by Alyssa Andrews, assisted by Katie Voskamp. Other great attempts were made by Abby Swann, Slayde Millar, Chloe Page and Libby Fletcher.

The puck stayed in the offensive zone again for the majority of this period with great forechecking by Abbey McCormick and Georgia Tanner.

The third period gave the spectators some end-to-end action which gave Kincardine goaltender Rose Pande a little more activity and she “rose” to the occasion with skill and determination.

Shots were attempted by Jessica Gouthro, Georgia Tanner and Alyssa Andrews but it was Slayde Millar who managed to put the puck past the pipes, with the assist going to Laura Fohkens, for the final goal of the game.

Great effort by all, especially when Kincardine was shorthanded by two penalties during this third period.
