MISCHIEF TO VEHICLES

(BRUCE PENINSULA, ON.) – Over the past weekend officers from Bruce Peninsula OPP investigated several mischiefs to vehicles.  Tires were punctured at Isthmus Bay Road, north of Lions Head, Red Bay and 4 vehicles had tires slashed in Wiarton over-night February 3rd.

BREAK AND ENTERS

(SAUGEEN FIRST NATION, ON.) -  Three cottages were either entered or attempts made to gain entry into them.  The incidents happened on Second Ave South in the area of the1400 block.  It is unknown at this time who is responsible for the burglaries.

If you have information that would assist police in finding the persons responsible for the mischiefs or the break-ins, please call the Ontario Provincial Police or Crime Stoppers.

BEWARE OF TELEPHONE FRAUD

(WIARTON, ON.) – Bruce Peninsula OPP would remind everyone to remain cautious when dealing with phone solicitors.  Particularly those that are asking for donations and requesting payment be made by credit card.  Recently police became aware that a fraudster tried to use a nationally recognized organization’s name to ask for a donation. The organization never solicits by phone. The caller then asked for the victim’s credit card information to make the payment.

With this information a thief could use your card to obtain additional property, billing it to your account.  They could also use your card information to apply for more credit cards in your name.  Never give financial or credit card information to someone you do not know.  Check directly with the charity or organization to confirm they are soliciting in your area or call Phone Busters at 1-888-495-8501 to confirm the charity or organization is legitimate.
