The February meeting of the Purple Grove Women's Institute (W.I.) was held at the home of Mary Anne Kukoly.  It was great to have such good weather for travelling, for the members and guests.

President Cheryl Bridge and secretary Fran Farrell looked after the business part of the meeting. There were a few letters of thanks for donations made and for flowers received. Also talked about was the District Directors meeting to be held in Port Elgin the first of March.

With February being Heart Month, all the members and guests answered the roll call about our heart's desire.  Largaret McInnes read the Scripture and also an article about the prevention of thyroid cancer. The issue of poor quality food in our local hospital was discussed again.

The meeting was then turned over to our convener Joyce Farrell who introduced our speaker Loreen Ambler.

Loreen spoke about rughooking, its history and also brought many great examples of her art to show us and encourage us. One interesting note, she pointed out, is that she knows a lady in Cape Breton who does portraits with the craft.

Shirley MacDonald thanked Loreen on behalf of all attending.

Joyce then conducted some fun contests that had us put on our thinking caps and made for lots of chuckles. The meeting closed by singing "O Canada."

The lunch provided by Janet Nixon and Janet Rhody was enjoyed by all.
