The Government of Canada is now accepting employer applications for the Canada Summer Jobs 2012 program.

This program supports work experiences for students as well as organizations providing important community services.

The Canada Summer Jobs Program provides funding to not-for-profit organizations, public-sector employers and small businesses with 50 or fewer employees.

Not-for-profit employers are eligible for up to 100 per cent of the provincial/territorial minimum hourly wage and mandatory employment-related costs. Public-sector employers and small businesses with 50 or fewer employees are eligible for up to 50 per cent of the provincial/territorial minimum hourly wage.

This program will encourage businesses and organizations in Huron-Bruce to create jobs and allow students to gain valuable work experience, said Huron-Bruce MP Ben Lobb.

The employer application period opened Feb. 1 and applications must be received by Feb. 29.

Interested employers can apply on-line at www.servicecanada.gc.ca/csj2012 , at their local Service Canada Centre or by mail or fax.
