Serving the pancakes and sausages Tuesday night are Knox Tiverton youth group members Maddi Campbell (L), 13, of Underwood, Dyllan Mooser, 11, of Tiverton, and Dylan Young, 16, of Tiverton; being served is Jody Slesser of Kincardine

The pancakes and sausages were no sooner hot off the grill than the crowd started to arrive.

The youth group at Knox Presbyterian Church, Tiverton, hosted its annual Shrove Tuesday pancake supper Feb. 21, with about a dozen youth and adults cooking in the kitchen, and a long line-up of hungry patrons in the hall.

Led by Rev. Jeanette Fleischer, there are 10 members in the youth group. Most were out to help cook and serve the pancakes and sausages, under the watchful eye of a handful of adults.

Shrove Tuesday, also known as Pancake Tuesday or Fat Tuesday, precedes Ash Wednesday, the first day of Lent, leading up to Easter.
