London man killed in two-car crash in Ashfield Township

A 30-year-old London man was killed in a two-vehicle crash Sunday, March 4, just before 7 p.m., at the intersection of Kintail Line and Belfast Road in Ashfield Township (officially Ashfield-Colborne-Wawanosh), northeast of Goderich.

Huron OPP said Matthew Cochran was pronounced dead at the scene. He was a passenger in a Chevrolet Blazer that was travelling on Kintail Line when it came into collision with a Toyota Tacoma pick-up truck travelling on Belfast Road.

Both drivers and two additional passengers in the Blazer were taken to Alexandra and Marine General Hospital in Goderich, where they were treated for non-life-threatening injuries, police said.

Huron and South Bruce OPP were called to the scene of the accident, along with the Lucknow Fire Department and Huron County paramedics.

Members of the OPP Technical Traffic Collision Investigation team were called in, and the cause of the crash remains under investigation.
