The Kincardine District Secondary School Knights girls hockey team notched a tie and a loss Wednesday, ending their bid for a berth in the finals at the OFSAA (Ontario Federation of Secondary Athletic Associations) tournament in Belleville.

The girls had two shut-outs in Tuesday's games, and ended their Wednesday morning match against Ridgetown in a 0-0 score.

Goalie Natalie Melick earned her second shut-out at OFSAA.

The Knights then faced College Notre Dame in the afternoon, and came out on the short end of a 4-2 score. Hailey Allen scored, unassisted; and Jessica Satosek scored from Cassidy Colhoun.

Goalie Morgan Baker took the loss in net.

That put KDSS tied for second with College Notre Dame, in their pool. Because Notre Dame beat KDSS Wednesday afternoon, Notre Dame took second place and advanced to Thursday's playoffs. Only the top two teams in each pool advance to the quarter-finals.

Coach Dianne Pennington said the girls played well and should be proud of their achievement this season.
