The Kincardine District Secondary School Kinetic Knights are hosting a community barbecue to help raise money toward their trip to the FIRST world championship robotics competition in St. Louis, Missouri, next week.

Team 781 was part of an alliance team that won gold at the Queen City Regional in Cincinnati on the Easter weekend, qualifying for the world championships.

The community barbecue will be held Saturday, April 21, noon to 2 p.m., at the Lake Huron Learning Centre (former Westario Power building), 385 Queen Street, Kincardine.

Thanks to the generous support of Gordon Pharmasave, located in downtown Kincardine, the barbecue will feature hamburgers for $3 each, and cheeseburgers for $4 each.

The public can also test-drive the 2012 practice robot. The real robot is in St. Louis now, awaiting the competition.

All proceeds from the barbecue will go toward the cost of taking the Kinetic Knights Team 781 to the worlds where the Knights came in second last year.
