To the Editor:

I commend Mr. McMutcheon on his letter and agree with him.

I went to view this film at the Plex and came away with the same feelings.  I wanted more information before signing any petitions and don't feel as though they were answered.

PLEASE LET OUR MAYOR AND TOWN COUNCIL DO THEIR JOB BY GETTING MORE INFORMATION.

To the Editor:

I read with interest David McCutcheon's letter about "Into Eternity".

As a lady beside me said, it was definitely "Norwegian".  Movies directed by Ingmar Bergman had that same dark quality.

However, I  didn't think it was a one-sided argument for the SOS cause at all.  What I saw in the movie was a group of dedicated people trying to do their best to take care of future generations.

When they started to imagine what it might be like in ten, twenty, fifty or one hundred years, they really couldn't guarantee that the repository would be safe from future intrusions.  That did not mean, however, that they shouldn't take steps to do their best.

We have to trust that if we start the process toward resolving the problems of overpopulation, climate change and energy production, future generations will be competent to continue the good work we begin. The worst thing would be if we become paralyzed into hopelessness by our anger and frustration.

The Onkalo project is a huge commitment to the repair of decisions made in the past and to the future of world.  I applaud all those who use their minds and voices to propose and debate the best solutions.
