Point Clark woman killed, Kincardine woman in serious condition after two-vehicle crash near Goderich

A 69-year-old Point Clark woman has died, and a 39-year-old Kincardine woman remains in serious condition after a two-vehicle crash north of Goderich Sunday afternoon.

Huron County OPP officers were called to the scene on Highway 21 (Bluewater Veterans Highway) between Golf Course Road and Bogie's Beach Road at 4:55 p.m.
April 22. Officers were assisted by Huron County paramedics and the Goderich Fire Department.

Police said a burgundy Chevrolet Blazer was travelling southbound on the highway when it collided with a silver Mazda 3 which was travelling northbound. Both drivers were taken by air ambulance to Victoria Hospital in London with life-threatening injuries.

The driver of the Blazer, Wendy Gilders, 69, of Point Clark, died in hospital, police said. A post-mortem examination will be completed.

The second driver, a 39-year-old Kincardine woman, remains in serious condition. No other injuries were reported.

Members of the OPP Technical Traffic Collision Investigation team continue to investigate the crash.
