There was no reason to go hungry at lunch time in Kincardine Saturday. Barbecued hamburgers and hot dogs were available at two locations as fund-raising activities. At the Lake Huron Learning Centre, the Kincardine District Secondary School Kinetic Knights drew a crowd to enjoy hamburgers and cheeseburgers, and take a turn at steering last year's robot or this year's practice robot. Sponsored by Gordon Pharmasave in downtown Kincardine, the event raised more than $1,000 to put toward Team 781 competing at the world championship robotics competition in St. Louis, Missouri, next week. The Kinetic Knights also held a Penny War at KDSS last week, raising more than $500. Meanwhile, at Sobeys Kincardine, the Kincardine Minor Hockey Association players, coaches and parents were manning barbecues, selling hamburgers and hot dogs to raise money for their group. The buns were donated by Dempster's, as was a print of hockey player Sidney Crosby which was being raffled off. Schneider's donated the hamburgers and hot dogs, and Sobeys donated the condiments for the event.
