The Huron United Football Club (HUFC) is a joint venture of Kincardine Minor Soccer and Saugeen Shores Minor Soccer. The executives of these two clubs realized a need to provide a higher level of soccer for the youth of their respective areas. Before HUFC, players wishing for a higher level of competition were forced to leave the area. HUFC gives the local youth an opportunity to play that higher level of soccer while remaining local. Monday night (May 7), the inaugural game for HUFC was played as the Under -2 boys travelled to Fergus. With four months of indoor training behind them, 17 boys from Port Elgin, Tiverton, Kincardine and Huron-Kinloss took to the field and immediately took control of the game. When the dust had settled, the new team had rippled the opposing team's netting seven times and allowed only one goal in return. The HUFC U12 boys take the field again at the Davidson Centre in Kincardine this Saturday (May 12) at 11 a.m. when they host Stratford.
