*Please note we remove duplicate votes from the same source.  It's a waste of time voting more than once.  If you have a  longer comment than 400 characters, Please email us with your extended comment..

We don't edit any of the comments.  Here are some of the comments, but not all.  Most people just vote and don't comment.  We try to include most comments although duplicate votes from the same source are tossed out by the computer.  Often yes votes do not have comments in surveys, but no votes do

Editor:  Again read our warning above about submitting more than one vote.  One ardent No voter submitted 20 No votes.  This does not influence the vote outcome.  The computer notes these and throws them out.  It's a waste of your time to vote over and over again.

Yes I have read the propaganda from  NWMO. I am appalled that this site is  being considered with its vicinity to  the Great Lakes.

Yes I attended both and the   overwhelming number of attendees were   AGAINST the DGR.

Will try to get up there for one of the   meetings cottager.

Will send an email to make comments.   Space here not sufficient.

Will also attend the Town Hall   meeting/  I am opposed to the DGR

 why bother

We need to have these in the summer   too  and include everyone. It is an   international issue  not just local

We have to store this waste some   where  why not some place where we now   do it will safe for every one?

We have to stop now! This will have huge negative   consequences fr our community. Stop now!

We have a vacation home in   Southampton  but can't attend because   we're working. So smart of the   officials to hold the meeting on a   weeknight when many of us are unable   to be there. A Saturday meeting would   have been so much better. It would   also have been better if the meeting   were held in the later spring or   summer when even more property owners   could be in town.

 We approve the DGR thingy!

Waste of time attending a meeting for a  project everyone but the saugeen shores  council members has voted no to.

This whole idea of a deep geological repository in   such a populated area of Canada and so close to the   world largest supply of fresh water is ludicrous and   makes the wind turbine fiasco seem like a field of   whirligigs!

This process is a scam to change our   community to a Nuclear Dump i am   against this

The meeting last Saturday was more   informative.

strongly opposed to moving to the next  step...well written letter regarding  this issue by Patrick and Paula Gibbons

Storing Nuclear Waste beneath the town   is a great idea. Just think of the   revenue for the municipality and the   new  life long  much needed jobs it   will create.

Remember that gasoline was once the  curse of the oil industry? I believe  that in time ways will be found to  recover and make good use of the energy  of the spent fuel from the repository.

Please differentiate between the current high level   nuclear waste DGR Open Houses and the Open Houses   for the low and intermediate level nuclear waste held   in 2004/2005.  Some people do not realize that there   is a difference.

Our community will be forever damaged in so   many ways by further council consideration of this   concept in Saugeen Shores. Those proponents   owe it to themselves to watch the video “Into – Eternity” to see what a DGR is.

 Opposed   Bonnie Nichol

Open house sessions with Q and A are   the only way to go regarding this   process.  Being a witness to the   carryings on of May 14th  with our   council's mismanaging of the DGR   presentation has put fire in my   belly.

NWMO's babies  butterflies  and one   sided information.  Thanks but I don't   need brainwashing.

Nothing can convince me that his is   good for our community. And the slick   presentation at town hall won't work.    We don't want it.

Not yet was unavailable will try for   Apr 7th'

need to keep informed and give some   input

need to be better informed both sides   of question

Mainly because we are out of the   country until the springtime is back   but  if we were there we would express   our concerns of the bad effect on our   lovely little summer hide a way! We   would move immediately if it went   ahead.

 Let's keep the information coming

let it be  there will be many great   jobs created for many many years to   come due to this...their will be   implemented conditions to adhere to     so all will be safe for years to come    so let it be

Just say NO DGR in Saugeen Shores

It's a major decision for our   community and we should all learn as   much as possible about this very   complex issue BEFORE we make up our   minds.

Its a done deal  why even participate?

I'm for it we have the nuclear plant   here why not.

I want to tell them that I am not a   willing hosting community not the   politicians who are. Economic ****** (Editor -- explitive deleted)

I think that it is rediculous to   store waste here. It will reduce the   number of tourists and it will have an   effect on real estate

I see nothing wrong with a well   managed system to store this resource.  I have faith in the experts and our   politicians to follow due process.  I am tired of the shrill protests of   the 'anti's'.  Funny how so many of   them are from the anti WalMart crowd!

I have attended meetings and will continue to attend   any other meetings!        Arlene Letherern

I have attended both the NWMO Open  House in Southampton and the SOS Town  Hall meeting in Southampton.    I oppose proceeding further with the  NWMO site selection process for Saugeen  Shores. I have written Council and NWMO  expressing my concern.  I will do so  again before the May 14 meeting.

I have attended and will attend others. However    none of the information presented has been   balanced or objective and town officials are   unwilling or incapable of changing that. We are   being manipulated.

I do not support the notion in this  beautiful area

I did attend. I did not spend as much  time as I should have. It was  informative but I do understand the call  for more perspectives on the issue that  many in the town are now calling for.

I believe we have the best & most   knowledgable people already running   our plant.  If they believe we have   the proper geological site for the   repository  then I would go with their   decisionl

I believe that these descisions were   made a long time ago and we have no   hope of influencing them.

I believe burying high level nuclear  waste anywhere in the Great Lakes Basin  would be the single biggest mistake the  people of this time could ever make.

I attended the Open House for the DGR   a few weeks ago. I was amazed that   this presentation is totally one   sided  which is to be expected. There   is no mention of the huge problems   with transporting and burying huge   amounts of high level nuclear waste in   the ground  basically underneath Lake   Huron.

I am very much opposed to having a DGR anywhere   near our community and I want to get as much   information about it as possible.

I am opposed to the DGR. We need   forums that present the other side of   the story too. Then we would make the   ethical choice. NOT next to the Great   Lakes.

I am glad I had the time to view the   entire display and to talk with the   people there.  We can't ignore the   nuclear waste issue.  I feel much   better informed about this storage   option now.

I am convinced that the nuclear waste   should be stored in a deep geologic   repository and that the Saugeen Council   should go ahead to step 2.

have not attended yet but will  not infavour of this process  stop it   now

Have attended   wish I could attend   the next session to hear a balanced   approach. This seems to me like   putting your toilet in the kitchen     the world's most toxic waste beside   the most significant fresh water   supply in the world!!

Do the geological survey first to   determine if the area is suitable for   a deep depository It is a waste of   time having discussions before you   even know that it is suitable for a   waste sight

Did not feel NWMO was a nuetral  body   they work for and are funded by the   Nuclear Industry

Absolutely  if it truly will be an   open house with 2 way dialogue and the   town would schedule it so that all   residents  full time & seasonal could   have an opportunity to attend.

...unless meetings are scheduled so   seasonal residents can attend
