Inadequate funding in Ontario's provincial budget will cause service cuts in hospitals across the province.

In particular, small and rural hospitals - especially those that are amalgamated to larger hospitals - are likely to come under renewed threat of major service cuts or even closure.

That's the word from the Ontario Health Coalition which is hosting meetings in several municipalities, including Kincardine.

These public meetings will be held to share information, give updates and plan a response to save local health care services.

Everyone is welcome to attend the meetings which will feature Natalie Mehra, director of the Ontario Health Coalition; specialists in economics and health services; and local politicians.

The meeting in Kincardine will be held Tuesday, June 26, 7 p.m., at the Best Western Plus Governor's Inn, 791 Durham St., Kincardine.

Other meetings are slated for:

Tuesday, June 19, 6:30 p.m., at the St. Catharines Central Library, 54 Church St. (Bankers Room), St. Catharines.

Wednesday, June 20, 6:30 p.m., at the Community Centre, 14 Anderson Lane, Niagara-on-the-Lake.

Thursday, June 21, 6:30 p.m., at the Pumphouse,  447 Elizabeth Street, Grimsby.

Wednesday, June 27, 7 p.m. at the Friendship Centre (part of Pyramid Recreation Centre), 317 James Street South, St. Marys.
