The DGR, the Butcher’s Thumb and the Process

The SOS and SRA advertise “balanced information” in their very public anti-DGR campaign. In selling their highly biased position they are no better than a butcher who holds his thumb on the weigh scale when selling his product. He is telling you one thing and giving you another for his own benefit. If the customer (any of our townspeople) allows himself to be cheated like this then he/she is also condoning the practice and allowing the butcher to cheat all his customers.

As a community, we should be approaching this very important and complex issue in a manner parallel to our democratic justice system. We are the jury. While we have not been SELECTED as unbiased jurors, we should not heed those with obvious preconceived ideas and narrow and misinformed points of view. We should not listen to those jurors only because they speak with the loudest voices. We must take the time to consider BOTH the Pro AND Con relevant information of the case and ONLY THEN reach a decision on the issue which is right for our society.

The SOS and SRA have already attempted to poison our community with erroneous, and sometimes outrageous, information and “loud” signs. This is their attempt to HIJACK the DGR information PROCESS.

The information process, as agreed to by our Town Council, allows the time and the means for REAL balanced information to be presented so that rational people, not emotional and angry people, can decide for themselves on this issue once they have good information. We should not allow ourselves to be held hostage by the SOS/SRA’s vigilante-like activities. If we do then we are not only cheating ourselves, but we are also allowing all our townspeople to be cheated.
