It appears that the long-time vacant lot at Port Elgin Harbour is about to see some activity.

The lot that once featured a restaurant was purchased several years ago by local businessmen with the idea of creating upper-scale, harbour-front condominiums.  Unfortunately, however, the original idea did not go through and the lot has subsequently been purchased by a group of investors.

According to Andrew Hills, the group is going to begin construction of a four-story building with 16 cottage style condos designed by Architect Grant Diemert.

The building will feature an exterior that is in keeping with the lakeside elements of the area, including local stonework and a rooftop garden and BBQ area.

The condos will be 'Fractional Sharing' ownership similar to those in Muskoka, Parry Sound, Collingwood, Aspen and other locales.

On the July 1st long weekend, people had the opportunity to read details about the building that will be known as 'The Edinburgh Club'.

According to Hills, there will soon be more on-site information for those interested in learning more about the project.
