Dear Editor:

Recently I had the honour of presenting the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee Awards to citizens throughout the riding of Huron-Bruce, based on their nominators' submissions outlining their contributions to their communities. It was a wonderful evening.

This past weekend, I realized that if I could have presented an award giving corporate recognition, Bruce Power would have topped the corporate list of community supporters we are blessed with in Huron-Bruce.

I would like to offer this public expression of appreciation to Bruce Power, and its chief executive officer, Duncan Hawthorne, in lieu of the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee Award.

From one end of the riding to the other, I regularly see evidence that both Bruce Power and Duncan Hawthorne understand the importance of not only supporting, but celebrating our communities! 

The public Bruce Power Beach Party this past weekend in Port Elgin is just one example of how Bruce Power and its leadership team lead by example, and in their efforts demonstrate that it is important to 'give back'.
