(L) Rotarian and Chamber of Commerce President Cheryl Goetz, 'Bob' the Painter and exchange student Mandy Wang Local Rotary Clubs held the 8th Annual Winterama fundraiser "For the Kids" on Saturday, February 13th in Port Elgin and Shallow Lake. Proceeds from Winterama are used to enhance youth-based activities in the area through Rotary and the United Way. Pre-registered youth organizations, such as the Saugeen Shores Pee Wee Double B Hockey Team, also receive 20 per cent of they raised. In Port Elgin, Individual participants raised $3,290 with another $5,500 in sponsorships from companies such as Bruce Telecom, Ontario Power Generation, Bank of Montreal, Genivar, Wiarton Home Hardware, Lakeshore Renovation and Shouldice Designer Stone. Others, like Herbal Magic who donated the cost of the ice time for the skate-a-thon, contributed in-kind.

Rotary 'stalwarts', Andrea and Mike La Blance of Southampton At last count on Saturday, Shallow Lake had raised $15,000 in individual pledges and $8,000 in sponsorships. There was no final count in however, from one of the biggest contributors, the Grey Bruce Snowmobile Trails Association and its Snowmobile Run "For the Kids"
