P.A.R.C. (Port Adult Recreation Center) is continuing with their various get fit, get healthy, stay fit, stay healthy programs.

From Mondays through Fridays, 9 – 10 a.m. we have walking the arena. This is one hour of walking exercise inside the arena for the winter months. Everyone is welcome. For information, call Bruce Buchanan @ 519-389-2397.

We also sponsor VON SMART (Seniors Maintaining Active Roles Together) Group Exercise Classes. This is an exercise program for seniors and addresses health issues such as arthritis, fall prevention, diabetes, heart disease, stroke, osteoporosis, cholesterol, obesity and stress reduction. The program will increase strength, balance, coordination, aerobic conditioning, weight management and flexibility. VON will provide trained instructors certified by the Canadian Centre for Activity and Ageing. Seniors can join the class at any time. Anyone interested should call Dorothy Embacher, SMART Program Coordinator, at 519-376-5895. A donation of $3 per class would be appreciated.

At our upcoming luncheons at The Plex in February and March we will have guest speakers on different aspects of health. In February our guest speaker is Candace Boak, a pharmacist from Shoppers Drug Mart and at our March luncheon our guest speaker is Nancy Hall from Grey Bruce Health Services.
