President Dave Kuhl is a hands on owner Kuhl Machine Shop Ltd. has achieved remarkable growth in its 20 years of operation and is honoured to be recognized by the Owen Sound Chamber of Commerce with the award of Business of the Year – 2009 Since establishment in 1989 KMS has built a reputation for quality and leadership as a professional full service Precision Machining, Welding, Millwright and Hydraulic Cylinder supplier. (See our Services) As a custom build-to-order job shop, KMS services the Manufacturing, Nuclear, Agricultural, Natural Resource and Construction Industries using Computer Numerical Control (CNC) machining and turning centers along with state of the art software.
Precision CNC Machining (see our machine capabilities) to tight tolerances, using steel, stainless steel, plastics, wood, copper or aluminum is expertly achieved. Our experienced CNC Machinists have mastered their trade.
Our Welding (see our welding capabilities) and Fabrication staff have the knowledge and experience to professionally complete any project, from straightforward repairs to the most complex. Our experienced Welders are certified in SMAW, FCAW, GMAW and GTAW through the Canadian Welding Bureau (CWB) to the Canadian Standards Association (CSA) Standards of W47.1 Div 2(structural steel) and W47.2 Div 2.1(aluminum). Four certified designations with the Technical Standards & Safety Authority (TSSA) ensures KMS is fully qualified to complete Pressure Vessel Manufacturing, Process Piping B31.3, Power Piping B31.1, and Repair and Alterations.

KMS Millwrights (see our Millwright capabilities) provide professional Emergency or Scheduled service. KMS offers a preventive maintenance program that assists Manufacturing by reducing costly repairs usually at inopportune times. After-hours service is available to minimize your downtime. KMS Services compliment each other and when our work crew arrives on site, you can be sure they are licensed and qualified to complete the necessary work. Licensed Welders, Electricians and Machinists are readily available. Our On-site Consultation or Design assistance allows us insight to your needs. We designate one KMS tradesman to solely communicate with and coordinate your project while on site. All repaires are tested for functionality. The job is only complete when a customer sign-off is acquired acknowledging that your requested standards and specifications are fulfilled.
At KMS we have dedicated personnel and workstations specifically assigned for Hydraulic Cylinder (see our cylinders capability) build or repair. Every cylinder is 100% pressure checked before leaving our facility. We can build or repair many sizes and types of Cylinders including telescoping, industrial, agricultural or specialty applications. Ranges from ½” - 20” diameter and 2,000 - 10,000 PSI.
