Eric Dobson According to sources, there have been major changes at Bruce Telecom, the local telephone and internet provider in Saugeen Shores, Bruce County.\ The new president and CEO, Eric Dobson was selected to lead the municipally-owned telecommunications company through a rough patch. He’s been at the helm of divisions of Sprint Canada Inc. and later Rogers Communications Inc. (which bought Sprint in 2005). |
Before that, Dobson learned
his business and leadership skills at Queen’s University in Today, [Friday, January 15], Saugeen Times learned that, according to sources, Bruce Telecom has 'laid off' five top managerial positions effective immediately. The company is one of the few companies remaining that deals on a local basis with telephone, long distance, Internet, Digital TV and Wireless service provider serving communities in Bruce and Grey Counties including Port Elgin, Southampton, Kincardine, Tiverton, Paisley and Owen Sound. With the advance of high-technology, local telephone companies are finding it more difficult to compete in the global market. It is anticipated that there will be more restructuring for the locally based telephone-internet provider in the near future. |
