Highway 21 was closed, Goderich to Southampton, most of Thursday

Winter returned with a vengeance Thursday (Jan. 28), bringing heavy snow and high wind which blew the snow across Kincardine area roadways, causing closures and cancellations.

Highway 21 was closed by 7 a.m., from Amberley to Port Elgin, due to white-out conditions and several vehicles in the ditch north and south of Kincardine. By mid-morning, Highway 21 was closed from Goderich to Southampton, as were several other roads.

Buses were cancelled to Kincardine Township Tiverton Public School which was later closed. There were no buses to Kincardine District Secondary School, and only in-town buses for the other schools in town.

No buses were travelling to Ripley-Huron Community School or Lucknow Central Public School.

Numerous events and programs were cancelled Thursday night.
