Kincardine's municipal employees have negotiated a contract with a two-per-cent wage hike this year and another two-per-cent in 2011.

Chief administrative officer John deRosenroll confirmed that a bylaw to that effect will be made public at the Jan. 20 council meeting. He said pay raises in other municipalities have ranged from zero to three-per-cent.

"When we outlined the budget plan with council, we had factored in the wage negotiations," he said, "including a two-per-cent salary change for 2010."

The municipality has 69 full-time workers and 50 part-time employees. This year's two-per-cent wage hike equals $83,630.79.

In Huron-Kinloss Township, staff agreed to a one-per-cent pay raise, while council agreed to freeze its wages for the year.
