The Ripley 4-H Curling Club held its second meeting at 7:30 pm on Feb.12th at the Ripley Curling Club.

Club President Bradley Reid called the meeting to order and then opened the meeting with the 4-H pledge. The roll call named one curling term each on a small diagram. The minutes from the last meeting were then read by leader Mrs. Martin, followed by the approval of the agenda and the minutes.

The club then moved on to judging brooms such as a carbon shaft broom, hog hair broom, older style straw broom and an older style broom with a tilting head. Members then drew Olympic curling teams from different countries to for their final project, followed by Grant Martin leading warm up stretches. The club then took to the ice to practice sweeping and delivery skills. Afterward, members were split into two teams to play a two end game. The meeting was then adjourned by the president at 9:40pm followed by provided snacks from Bradley and Gregory Reid and Brendan Orr.

On Feb.19th at 7:30pm the Ripley 4-H Curling Club held their 3rd meeting at the Ripley Curling Club.

The meeting was called to order by President Bradley Reid followed by the reciting of the 4-H pledge. The roll call was placing the positions of curling players on a small diagram and next came the discussion of the last meeting’s minutes followed with the approval of the agenda and the minutes.

Members then got to do some judging of curling shoes, judging: condition, stability, age, and style. The club  discussed types of shots, such as the different draw and take-out shots followed by exercises and Stretches by Emily Ernewein.  Members then took to the ice to review places for players, ice etiquette, and to practice types of shots and sweeping. Following that, members were divided into teams to play  two-end games. At 9:40, the meeting was adjourned by President Bradley Reid and members received snacks courtesy of Ryan and Tyler Hallam and Justin and Jordan Ruetz.
