Sympathy is extended to Donna and Donald Geddes and family on the passing of Donna's mother Betty Scheumeman.

Folks in Purple Grove were glad to hear that Isobel Brook has returned home to Pinecrest Manor from the Wingham hospital. We are also glad to hear that Don Thompson is recovering well. He will be staying in Kincardine until he is able to drive again.

Dave Droppet of St. Catharines spent last weekend and Monday with Joyce and John Farrell. Dave spoke at the Auburn Missionary Church on the Sunday morning. Also visiting with the Farrells were Dave's aunt and uncle, Corrie and Peter Sneider of Kinloss.

Sunday visitors with June and Earl Elliott of Wingham were Nancy and Paul Greenwood of Goderich; Colleen, James, Conor and Sinead Greenwood of Ripley; and Dave Droppet. They cheered as the Canadian men's hockey team won the gold Olympic medal.

June and Earl went to Jackson, Michigan, last week to help Earl's sister, Elva June Ruby, celebrate her birthday.

Birthday wishes also go to Nancy Dore King who celebrated her birthday on Monday (instead of Feb. 29).

Recently, Mary Anne Kukoly visited with Ruth McCosh and Nancy and Paul Greenwood in Goderich. During the week she visited with Joyce McEwan in Kincardine and Nina MacDonald Bushell at RVilla. Phyllis Stewart visited at Mary Anne's.

Last Monday, Ann Finlayson taught a sweatshirt sewing class at the Ripley Community Centre. Another special sewing class will be held March 22.

Susan and Peter Roberts of Nairn visited with Fran and Jim Farrell. Fran and Jim enjoyed a visit with Yolanda and Brian Gamble in Tiverton.

A dance sponsored by the Port Albert reunion committee was held at the Ripley complex with music by Crazymaker.

Women's Institute meets
The Purple Grove Women's Institute ladies met at Mary Anne Kukoly's on March 3. The meeting opened with The Ode and the Mary Stewart Collect. Joyce Farrell presided and read the Scriptures. The roll call was a traveling nightmare which gave us many laughs.

Convener Marilyn Reid introduced our speaker Etty Broer who gave an informative outline of her mission trips. Members and guests appreciated her excellent presentation. Lunch was served by Ann and Maureen Collins. The meeting closed with O Canada.
