The Lucknow Fire Hall is on schedule to be done by May of this year.

At the Huron-Kinloss committee meeting March 1, councillor Don Murray said he and councillor Jim Hanna had walked through the building the previous week and found there were a few things to be changed, such as electrical plugs and communications systems.

The cement floor for the truck bays was being poured last week (March 2), he said.

A tour will be conducted once the building is completed, said Murray. "They're not moving anything until the paving is done, which will likely be after May 1."

The $1-million building is a joint project between Huron-Kinloss and Ashfield-Colborne-Wawanosh, with two-thirds funding from the federal and provincial governments through the Infrastructure Stimulus Fund.

The building is located across from the Lucknow Arena, just west of Montgomery Motors.

Meanwhile, work on the addition to the Lucknow Sports Complex is also on schedule.

Murray said the project was going to tender last week and will include steps from the top of the bleachers into a warm viewing room, and removal of the dehumidifier at the top of the building.

This project also received two-thirds funding from the provincial and federal governments through the Recreation Infrastructure Canada (RInC) program.
