Kincardine councillor Kenneth Craig is the first member of council to file for re-election in the October municipal election.

In fact, his is the only name on the list of candidates, so far, posted on the municipality's website.

Craig, 52, served a three-year term on Kincardine Township before it amalgamated with Kincardine and Bruce Township and became the Municipality of Kincardine.

He was Ward 2 (Kincardine Township) councillor in the new municipality for a three-year term, and is completing a four-year term as councillor-at-large with the municipality.

Craig says he is running for re-election because he enjoys serving the community, working with staff and setting some direction for the next generation.

"In spite of the rocky spots in this council's term, it's something I have found rewarding," he says. "I bring a skill set that urges council to co-operate and deal with the issues."

A retired dairy farmer and a municipal volunteer, Craig lives with his wife, Nancy, and their family on the 9th Concession of Kincardine Township. He is the pastor at Kincardine Baptist Church.
