Bruce County Blues, with the generous financial support of the Power Workers Union of Bruce Power, is proud to be presenting professional music artists Diana Braithwaite and Chris Whiteley to the elementary students of Kincardine, Ripley and Port Elgin.

Whiteley and Braithwaite are award-winning Blues singers and songwriters with years of experience performing on stages across North America. Together they have developed a unique educational program, “Sugar and Gold,” that tells the story of the Underground Railroad.

Braithwaite, herself, is a fourth generation Canadian whose descendants came to Canada from the American South through the Underground Railroad. She uses stories and songs to take the audience on the journey her ancestors made to reach Canada. More details are available from their website at http://www.braithwaiteandwhiteley.com/ugrr.html

They will be performing in Port Elgin Thursday, and then in Kincardine Friday morning at St. Anthony's with Kincardine Township-Tiverton Public School students joining in; and Friday afternoon at Huron Heights Public School with Ripley-Huron Community School joining the group.

The pair will also be performing an evening concert Friday night at the Bruce Steakhouse, beginning at 7:30 p.m.
