Bowl for Kids' Sake raises $30,000

About 250 bowlers took to the Bruce Bowling Lanes on the weekend (March 6-7), raising $29,616.97 for the Big Brothers and Big Sisters of Kincardine and District.

The 25th annual Bowl for Kids' Sake welcomed a total of 37 teams, including corporate and commercial teams, individuals, and Bigs and Littles.

The top pledge earner was Ernie Parent, with $3,378.65. He also won the grand prize of Dinner for Four at Woodbine or Mohawk Racetrack, and went home with two door prizes, one from Zehrs and the other from McDonald's.

Following Parent in the top 10 list of pledge-earners were: Paul Pearce, $1,385; Matthew Wrightsell, $815; Janice Chalmers, $650; Jeremy Ling, $570; Cyriel Verheye, $517; Cynthia Finlay, $490; Pam Bayley, $490; Doug Storrey, $400; and Rick Rock, $400.

Other winners of the draw prizes were Dylan Mooser, Sobeys; Brydon, Foodland; and Patti Richards, McDonald's.

Organizers were pleased with the turn-out and the amount raised, saying it was about the same as last year.
