Now that the WINTER SOLSTICE is (about) here, arrives Monday the 21 st
December at 12.47 pm a few notes on Fall /Winter so far.
We often regard WINTER as when the snow flies...November. And then lasts
for six months! We may see fields again in April!
But looking back over the past few years at the snow blowing I have
done, and the first times used the blower were:
2005-17 November, and twice before " Winter started".
2006-04 December 3 times
2007-30 November 6 "
2008-22 November 9 "
2009-17 December once.
So one can wonder what the next three months can throw at us...small
amounts, cloud and winds off Lake? or frozen Lake and not so much
snow...or maybe once again will we get that BIG DUMPING?

Personally, it's anybody's guess!
Good thing I'm a Volunteer Weather Recorder, and not a Forecaster!
But looking at Almanacs...2009/10
THE OLD FARMER'S Almanac ....November through March will be colder than
usual, on average in most of Southern Canada.Snowfall will be above
normal in Eastern Ontario.
Harrowsmith's Truly Canadian Almanac...Cold and mild air will clash over
the Great Lakes.Ontario can expect colder and snowier conditions in
December.
THE CANADIAN FARMERS' ALMANAC...Bitterly cold and dry.Near or below
average precipitation.
Take your pick
