Can you trust in abundance? |

We
subscribe to a magazine called Ode. Some friends told us
about it a few years back. What catches me each time it comes
in the mail is the phrase beneath the name of the magazine, “for
intelligent optimists.” I do not consider myself all that intelligent nor do I think of myself as an optimist. What I do appreciate though are stories, people and ways of life that reveal gratitude, hope and abundance. Attitudes which attract me are those that embody there is enough. People whose way of life is steeped in the tradition of abundance stir something inside of me. |
This way says I have more than
enough, and I have something to offer: time, money and energy, among
others. In this spirit many things become possible, many ways become
open and the reality of more stands ready to face scarcity and
greed. This is challenging. This confronts patterns that have grown quite comfortable and easy for me. How I eat. What I drive. Where I live. What I buy. What I read. What I watch or listen to. How about you? These may be difficult to find. Gratitude, hope and abundance may lie buried somewhere. After all, the snow drifts in, piles up and we can miss the hidden gift waiting for us. A great deal of activity is at work in the soil beneath the snow. Ask a farmer. Perhaps we have to wait for some things to grow in our life; the seeds of hope can take time. Perhaps the greater challenge for me is to trust that abundance is there, whether I can see it or not. |
