The flag at Southampton Memorial Hospital was flying at half-mast on Saturday after the hospital staff lost one of their own. Retired nurse, Betty Greig of Southampton, died after a lengthy illness.

Betty Greig (neé Perron) Greig was, at one time, the only medical person on Christian Island in Georgian Bay near Midland and Penetanguishen, Ontario. Her daughter-in-law Shelley Greig of Southampton remembers her mother-in-law fondly. "She was full of life and, often the way she said things in her French way, made everyone laugh. |
