With its mandate complete, Ripley's Lewis Park committee has been
dissolved. Huron-Kinloss council approved the bylaw at the Dec. 21
council meeting.
At the Dec. 7 general committee meeting, administrator Mary Rose Walden
explained that there is a surplus of about $8,000 which the park
committee wishes to put toward certain items, such as planters, flowers,
banners, and other beautification of the village streetscape.
She said the engrave-a-stone project was a great success, and $3,000 was
raised through the Christmas tour of homes. That money will be put into
a reserve for future upgrades and maintenance costs.

"The committee has done an excellent job," said councillor
Anne Eadie.
Mayor Mitch Twolan asked staff to send a thank you to the
members of the committee.
At the Dec. 21 meeting, Walden told council that the
township has been successful in its grant application to
Farm Credit Canada, and will be receiving $7,000 toward
playground equipment in Lewis Park. This will help complete
the park committee's final mandate to provide a piece of
equipment for children, ages seven to 12.
